Lessons are a step-by-step introduction to learning sounds and how the sounds are made. Each lesson takes you through the sounds and components you need to learn to make a beat pattern. Each of the 12 lessons builds on the previous lesson, so you need to begin at Lesson 1.

This lesson introduces you to alveolar plosives – sounds made with the tip of the tongue and the alveolar ridge. It also introduces you to sounds which last two ‘beats’ in a beat pattern. This is indicated in a beat pattern using an arrow. You are introduced to:
